We are currently seeking candidates for the following positions:

PRIMARY TEACHER

This position is a full-time primary teaching position at a small, private, learner-centered, progressive, K-8 independent school in Oxford, OH. McGuffey Foundation School focuses on providing unique, challenging educational opportunities for learners in a supportive setting. We are looking for an energetic person dedicated to a lively, interactive teaching and learning experience, a primary grades teacher with strengths in innovative and personalized curriculum development and delivery. Experience with information technology, ability to teach a second language, familiarity with learning challenges and adaptations, and early childhood licensure is desired.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Taking responsibility for the progress of a group of primary age learners through most areas of the primary curriculum and making learning accessible to all
  • Organizing the learning spaces and learning resources to create an engaging learning environment, motivating learners with enthusiastic, imaginative, relevant presentation
  • Planning and orchestrating richly educational experiences in response to the needs of a range of learning styles and ability within the class – developing, selecting and using effective educational methods, scenarios, and materials
  • Developing learners’ cognitive and social capacities, efficacy, and love of learning
  • Fostering learners' self-esteem, motivation, and sense of civic responsibility
  • Supporting our partners program, occasionally incorporating activities allowing multi-faceted relationships to grow between our older and younger students
  • Implementing useful diagnostic and progress assessment opportunities and measures
  • Meeting requirements for assessing, recording, and reporting students' development
  • Providing feedback to parents on child's progress at parents'/caregivers’ conferences and other opportunities
  • Maintaining open lines of communication with parents/caregivers and communicating with parents/caregivers regularly about what’s going on in class
  • Providing parents/caregivers information about curriculum plans for the year
  • Staying up to date with and participating in changes and developments in the structure of the curriculum
  • Taking part in school events and activities which may take place on weekends or in the evening
  • Collaborating widely and working flexibly with colleagues
  • Engaging in professional growth activities at different points in the school calendar through an emergent, reflective program of job-related knowledge and skill development
  • Working collaboratively to achieve the overall purposes of the school program
  • Organizing and/or participating in occasional promotion of primary program by generating introductory experiences for potential students, e.g. preschool playground or camp
  • Meeting regular and predictable attendance requirements
